Del: Yes, I started out DJ'in. I own a ridiculous amount of music at my home. So the music was always hand-in-hand with the rappin. What made rappin so tight was that you didn't need any music to do it. So you could rap at school to entertain yourself. Once I discovered how producers make beats, I got more interested into production. All of this was very early on, late '80s, early '90s me and Aplus were already making beats. I showed Aplus how to use the equipment, Sir Jinx taught us the concepts behind making songs.
It's a certain urge that I get for rapping, a different one for making music. I make more music than raps. Now that I have instant access to everything it never stops. But sometimes I get bored just having tracks with no vocals and then I'll wanna write something. Or I may feel a certain way and wanna get it off my chest, so I'll write something. Growing up, I wrote more for just the pure entertainment of rhyming words together, but as that got played out I wanted the words I was using to have more meaning. So now the writing is more based upon situations and things I go through.
